Does anyone have pictures of the ice breaking up? It would be nice to view daily pictures from around the lake as we all long for the open water to return.

i can take pics as I have been from our house.
we live just across from Margarets island. if I'm around to other places, then I will try to shoot some there, but that is more unlikely. Hopefully we can use this thread to share some pics.

I'll go take a few now!

Looking towards the north beach and the mouth of the trent... the open water is almost linked!

and the MODIS image from today... a lot more water then last week, must have been all the wind yesterday.

looks like about 25-30% of the ice is now out... won't be too long!

If the weather holds as below, Ice out could be early next week in my estimations

What a difference a few hours makes. The ice you see there along the island broke off this afternoon and headed up the lake. THE ENTIRE PIECE is now clogging the mouth of the Trent!

Westerly winds was the culprit, which will help that MASSIVE berg melt. Now if only it would break off along the south shore I could get some fishing in! Smile

This is the only Ice I can see around our area, and of coarse it's just off our shore (aka I CAN'T FISH YET!)

So, are we calling Ice out as of April 5th (yesterday - I WIN Very Happy ) although I do not have sat images to back it up, or should we call it as of Today? I'm a fair administrator!

It was VERY eerie on Monday. The warm temps, with lots of humidity created some AMAZING fog as the ice flowed. the fog was only around the ice but was weird as it was thick as pea soup, and moved with the ice... a sight to see!

So, ice out? When? I say yesterday or today.... You make the call!

It was definitely yesterday (Apr.5) at this part of the lake. Here's a picture taken around 6pm.. That's West Grape Island a bit to the right (barely visible), and Long Island on the far right..

SWEEEEEEEEEEEET!
Had people asking on the Facebook page about the ice around Long Island. I assume they want to cross this weekend, anyone close enough to snap some pictures of that area? Could one make it via boat to Long/Cow island?

Here is a quote from the Facebook page:
Is it open between silver leaf (woodduck rd) and long island?

Sorry I wasn't here to reply sooner, but just to confirm for anyone left wondering. The ice is COMPLETELY gone around both Long and Cow Islands. Time to put in the docks!!

Does anyone have boats in the water yet? What are the docks like at Marvin's?

thx.

There are a few boats in (ours included) and Marvin has most of the docks prepped and repaired. I believe that only the last few are yet to be finished (last being in the direction of leaving the marina). There is still alot of debris floating around on the lake, so going carefully is recommended. We had a good wind out of the SW last week that blew most stuff out of the way between Marvin's and Long/Cow Islands, but this morning it's out of the North, so it's all blowing back again. There was a whole dock that floated by the island this morning!

Wanted to update this post regarding the docks at Marvin's. In the past few days, the water level has come up about 6 to 8 inches and most docks are now submerged and unavailable.
